The conversation between Lux and Vander at the Last Drop Inn had opened Lux's eyes.
She could hardly imagine that a place as chaotic and lawless as Zaun, where right and wrong were impossible to tell apart and everything was a mess, could still be recognized as a city-state—and that Zaunites could even be proud of it!
Here, as long as Piltover was involved, it seemed that anything short of outright murder could be justified and allowed.
Yet when Lux asked why they hated Piltover and considered it their mortal enemy, they could barely give her a straight answer.
Zaunites knew something was wrong, but they didn't know what the problem was, nor could they do anything to fix it.
"Is this what you thought Zaun would be like?" After they left the inn, Lux rested a hand on her sword hilt and spoke to Karya. "A complete mess, with no rhyme or reason?"
"The details might be a little different," Karya replied after thinking it over. "But overall, there isn't much difference. As things stand, it really is a ruin."
"What, you think that fellow Vander wasn't lying?" Lux asked, suddenly curious. "Back at the inn, you were the one who insisted I drink that sheep's milk. That's not like you."
"Plateau sheep's milk is good stuff." Karya chuckled. "Plateau sheep are also called mammoth sheep. They're native to Bel'Juin, and their milk is the most famous tonic there. He wouldn't have brought it out if he meant to poison you. Besides, Eno didn't drink any."
"Fine. It did taste pretty good, just a little rich. I need to move around and work it off." Lux smacked her lips. "What should we do now? Go look at the Chem Barons' factory? Vander said the workers haven't finished their shifts
