Before the fighting officially began, the two sides in the Nashramae Campaign first traded a barrage of insults.
Demacia's side declared, righteously, that the Raiders had used despicable ambush tactics to seize wealth belonging to the empire, and that these goods had turned up in the markets of Nashramae, where they were being sold officially. So, obviously, the people of Nashramae were the despicable ambushers.
Demacia's deployment, therefore, was a strike against bandits. If Nashramae wanted to distance itself from those vile criminals, it should hand over the people involved and welcome a Demacian investigation team. The Demacian Empire would certainly see that justice was done.
Nashramae shot back, asking who the hell knew what treasures they were talking about. If they called out to those treasures, would they answer?
And what the hell was Demacia, anyway? A bunch of country bumpkins with no history, no heritage, and no strength—three times over—who dared call themselves an empire?
There was only one empire in Runeterra: the great Shuriman Empire. Even with the imperial throne turned upside down, there was no way the Demacians could put on a monkey's crown and pretend to be emperors!
It was clear that both sides desperately wanted to claim the moral high ground. But when it came to trading insults, they could only shout past each other, until the whole thing turned into a contest to see who could yell the loudest.
Of course, while they shouted, both sides were also making thorough preparations for war.

There was no wind today, and not a cloud marred the skies over Nashramae. Seeing the Demacians light a fire and send up smoke, and realizing it wouldn't obscure the view of the city walls, the soldiers atop the walls began
