[0834] Nunu and Willump's Secret Mission

Why had Nunu and Willump appeared in Rakkor?

To answer that, we had to go back to Lissandra's mental turmoil. She had tried to use Eno's dreams to connect to Karya's, but in the process, her mind had been eroded by the Nightmare's dreams. Her mental state had grown dangerously unstable. Willump had sensed something was wrong, so he decided to take Nunu to the place where Anivia had entered Nirvana.

As Nunu put it, he had never seen Nirvana before. His mother had told him that Nirvana was a kind of rebirth, and rebirth was like a beetle secretly burrowing up out of the ground again. So he wanted to see Anivia emerge from underground, too.

Of course, Anivia wasn't going to burrow up out of the ground.

When Willump carried Nunu to the edge of the Howling Abyss and followed a winding path down into its depths, they heard a strange song along the way.

If Nunu hadn't been Noxian, and grown up surrounded by music, he might have struggled to make out anything meaningful in the faint, drifting song.

But Nunu was empathetic and full of feeling, and he caught the voice hidden in the wind with surprising clarity.

"Someone's calling me!"

Willump hadn't heard the voice Nunu was talking about, but he trusted Nunu completely. So they changed course, turning away from the Howling Abyss and heading toward the source of the sound instead.

What Nunu and Willump didn't know was that if they'd continued along Willump's original route, following the path in the yeti's memories, they would have fallen into Lissandra's trap. Like countless other yetis whose dream power had been drained away, they would have sunk into a dream woven especially for them, with no strength to escape.
