In Freljord, oaths were generally considered unbreakable. Even the wild gods of Freljord kept the oaths they made—though, of course, just as Anivia could play word games by turning into Eggnivia, the ways gods kept their oaths could sometimes be unexpected.

Once, a crafty troll had made a drinking wager with Ornn. He cheated by adding True Ice and won the bet, successfully getting Ornn to make him "a treasury door no one can open." Unfortunately, the troll himself couldn't open it either.

And so the crafty troll lost the ability to open his own treasury forever. He never saw the treasures hidden inside again before he died.

Oh, by the way, the door carved with a ram's head was the very one Braum carried. Braum couldn't open the door Ornn had forged either, but he could dig through the mountain from another direction and remove the door from its frame.

In Freljord, wagers, oaths, and honor were all connected. Using tricks or even wordplay to get around an oath was considered a sign of wisdom, while breaking one outright was shameful and dishonorable.

Although it seemed easy enough for Eggnivia to get around the oath through Nirvana, Lissandra had already considered that possibility.

The request Lissandra had made could only be fulfilled if Anivia entered Nirvana of her own accord, and each time Anivia did so, she had to fall into the Howling Abyss. The problem was that Eggnivia couldn't move by herself.

And so a closed loop formed: Anivia couldn't reveal anything about the wager, while Eggnivia always appeared in the Howling Abyss. Even if she wanted to tell someone, there was no one there to listen.

Once Eggnivia completed Nirvana and became Anivia again, she would have to honor her oath and keep silent.
