As a master engineer, Karya had brought back far richer firsthand intelligence from his reconnaissance mission than any other scout. He had not only marked the fortress's exact location, but also used gravel to build a vivid, oversized model, which he set before Lux and Ashe like a real estate agent showing off a property.
"This is the basic layout of the fortress," Karya said with a genial smile. "I didn't explore the underground sections, so I don't know what they're like yet, but the aboveground structures should be fairly accurate."
Lux's gaze followed Karya's words to the fortress model before them. She had barely glanced at it when her brows furrowed.
The fortress reminded her of Irondale.
Thanks to Karya's thoughtful addition of a scale marker, Lux could clearly tell that the main fortress walls stood more than twenty feet high.
That height might not sound remarkable, but the entire fortress had been built into the mountainside atop Jotunheim's ruins, and Jotunheim had once been a major defensive stronghold in northern Noxus. Even after it had been burned to the ground, its foundations still stood more than ten feet high.
(Karya had marked this with gravel of a different color, too.)
Together, that meant anyone attacking the fortress from outside would have to face a height difference of more than thirty feet if they weren't trying to breach the walls first. At that disadvantage, even the Avarosans, skilled as they were with bows, would inevitably be outmatched in ranged combat.
And judging from the fortress's layout, it was an irregular stronghold with several layers of walls. There were no more than five sections suitable for launching an attack, and by a rough estimate, even if they attacked from all five directions at once, they could deploy no more than
