It had been more than three months since King Pilaf had led an expedition to Mars and made a triumphant comeback on behalf of the people of Earth, defeating the evil Ginyu Force and rescuing the planet from those terrifying aliens. He had become a beloved, celebrated figure, hailed as the greatest king in history.
In all that time, Earth had enjoyed perfect peace. Not a single alien had come, and not one alarm had sounded. So Krillin, Piccolo, Yamcha, Tien, and the others had gradually come to believe that Earth was finally safe. They were convinced they could relax for good and stop worrying about any evil force posing any kind of threat to the planet.
After all, the people of Earth had proved through their own efforts that they weren't to be trifled with!
