The fighting had spread across every corner of the city. Neither the Soviets nor the Allies were willing to give up the place and admit defeat, so beneath the merciless onslaught of war, the city was soon left battered by the roar of guns and artillery. Everywhere you looked, there was devastation and the desolate sight of shattered buildings.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Amid a series of explosions, a towering skyscraper dozens of stories high began to groan and slowly topple in the distance. It crashed down with a tremendous rumble, sending dust billowing across nearly half the neighborhood. The cloud lingered for a long time.
As it turned out, destroying a city was far, far easier than building one...
This international modern metropolis had stood for two or three centuries, and it had taken a hundred years to grow to its current size. This international financial center, this city that never slept, had been reduced to almost nothing of value in less than three days by the Soviets' nuclear bombs, both sides' artillery shells, all kinds of explosives, and the countless bullets fired by their troops fighting in the streets.
Still, though the most valuable parts of the city had been all but destroyed by the devastating power of modern warfare, Soviet and Allied forces continued fighting inside and around it. Neither side was willing to admit defeat and withdraw, so the merciless street battles dragged on, like a meat grinder slowly reaping the lives of both sides' troops.
And now, little Annie was still active in the city's ruins, locked in fierce combat with the Allies—or, more accurately, the employee-soldiers of IOI Online Creations.
