The private military organization S.M.S. had accepted a contract worth as much as 120 million from a songstress known as the Galactic Fairy—Sheryl Nome—and had already set off earlier to carry out an emergency rescue at the location of the Macross Galaxy emigrant fleet, in another part of the galaxy.
Their private military operation had been given the code name "Galactic Fairy"!
Because the New UN Forces aboard the Macross Frontier fleet had, for certain unknown reasons, illegally refused the SOS distress call sent by the Macross Galaxy emigrant fleet, this rescue operation—despite the entire S.M.S. private military organization having been deployed under contract—consisted of only one ship: the roughly 400-meter-long Macross-class flagship known as the "Macross Quarter." It was only a quarter the length of a standard Macross-class vessel, but had the firepower of a typical Macross, as well as greater mobility and close-combat capability. The only other forces were the various VF-25 fighters belonging to the entire Skull Squadron.
Perhaps somewhere on the other side of the galaxy, the Macross Galaxy emigrant fleet, S.M.S., and those terrifying Vajra bugs were already locked in battle. But things remained very peaceful aboard the Macross Frontier fleet.
