E-Rantel had always been a border city and important military stronghold of the Re-Estize Kingdom. It was one small part of the territory directly controlled by the kingdom's current king, Rambo III, and the royal family.
In a certain sense, its location was quite advantageous. Head west along the main road, and you would reach the kingdom's Royal Capital, Re-Estize. To the south lay the Slane Theocracy, which had recently launched a surprise attack on and massacred a border village of the Re-Estize Kingdom, then ambushed the kingdom's Warrior Captain, Gazef Stronoff, in an attempt to frame the Baharuth Empire and even provoke a war between the two countries. And to the east lay the Baharuth Empire, which had nearly been successfully framed by the Slane Theocracy and could have gone to war with the kingdom at any moment even without the attempted framing!
Aside from the east, south, and west, north of E-Rantel lay the towering Azerlisia Mountains, which soared into the clouds and were blanketed in endless snow. Powerful, terrifying Frost Dragons and all kinds of fearsome creatures and magical beasts were said to live there and roam its slopes. There were also the lakes and swamps inhabited by nonhuman lizardmen, a vast forest encircling the mountains, and a small plain where the Great Tomb of Nazarick stood—the lair of a certain big skeleton who had recently been beaten up by Annie!
Of course, there were also scattered pioneering villages along the kingdom's border, like Carne Village... Though after the Slane Theocracy's deliberate surprise attack and massacre, no one knew how many border villages near E-Rantel were still standing.
As an important border stronghold of the Re-Estize Kingdom, E-Rantel connected the kingdom's various regions with all the towns and villages along its borders. No matter how much Annie
