Annie was happily counting the little pile of money she had earned just yesterday in the small villa she rented. It was stack after stack of brand-new bills, each worth one thousand J. There were a hundred bills to a stack, making each one worth one hundred thousand J. She had roughly twenty stacks laid out on the table—in other words, a whopping two million J?!
Without a doubt, that was a fortune!
It had enough purchasing power to buy three three-story buildings on Magnolia's main streets, right in the heart of Fairy Tail's guild town, where magic and commerce both flourished. Each one even came with a shop! Or, without paying an inflated price, it could buy the little villa Lucy and Annie were renting, with its garden and swimming pool?
Of course, that was assuming the owner was willing to sell and didn't seize the opportunity to jack up the price.
As for where Annie had gotten her two million J windfall, well, that was nobody else's business... At any rate, she hadn't stolen, robbed, or scammed anyone, and she hadn't gone around selling magic, either. She had just secretly completed a small little job.
That's right, just a small little job—and a thoroughly insignificant one at that!
Creak~!
"Annie!"
"We're back..."
Just then, the front door opened, followed by the sounds of people changing their shoes and walking in. Lucy, the Celestial Spirit Mage who had teamed up for the first time with Natsu, the fire dragon and the strongest member of Fairy Tail, and gone on a job with him, had finally returned, looking thoroughly worn out. In the end, they hadn't earned a single penny.
"Hello!"
"We're here too!"
Natsu and that silly cat, Happy, looked just as dejected as Lucy as they came in
