The war between "Fairy Tail" and "Phantom Lord," the two strongest wizard guilds in the Kingdom of Fiore, ultimately ended in a sweeping victory for "Fairy Tail."
After all, the upper ranks of "Phantom Lord"—including Guild Master Jose Porla, Element 4, and Gajeel Redfox, the supposedly strongest Iron Dragon Slayer—had all been defeated single-handedly by one troublesome little girl: that Celestial Spirit Mage who'd suddenly appeared out of nowhere!
So, naturally, the war between the two sides was over.
However...
Victory hadn't come easily for the members of "Fairy Tail," either.
It wasn't just because they had so many injured, both seriously and otherwise. They'd also suffered tremendous material and financial losses. For instance, their original guild hall had been completely razed to the ground by "Phantom Lord," leaving nothing behind!
Though, to be fair, "Phantom Lord's" mobile fortress hadn't fared much better. It was still lying at an angle in the bay not far outside Magnolia.
Of course, the casualties and financial losses weren't the worst part. For the victorious members of "Fairy Tail," the most miserable thing was that just as they were happily enjoying the hard-won fruits of victory and busily preparing to build their new guild hall together, trouble came knocking in the form of the Magic Council.
After all, wizard guilds were strictly forbidden from waging war against one another. And that was before considering the appalling circumstances of the two sides fighting it out in Magnolia, using giantification magic and a Magic Converging Cannon, and even bringing out a moving giant and a city-destroying spell.
So, as one would expect, barely two days after "Fairy Tail" had begun celebrating, the Magic Council's forces—the Rune Knights—arrived in Magnolia and arrested or detained all the "Fairy Tail" members, along with the "Phantom Lord" higher-ups who were
