The Sunny, also known as the Thousand Sunny, the pirate ship carrying a whole bunch of pirates, was speeding across the sea toward some destination, sailing straight into the wind.
No one knew how long they had been sailing before they spotted the hazy outline of an island on the horizon. Only then did they gradually slow down.
"Luffy!"
"We've spotted an island up ahead!"
Nami, the Straw Hats' navigator from the East Blue, nicknamed "Cat Burglar," was the first to spot the island hidden on the horizon. She immediately called Luffy and the others to the bow, and as soon as Luffy ran over, she handed him the binoculars she was holding.
"Look!"
"Right over there!"
Nami pointed in the direction of the island.
At this distance, without binoculars, all they could make out was a faint black speck. It would be easy to miss if you weren't paying attention.
"Where? Where?"

"At our current speed, it'll be a little while before we can see it clearly."
