In the ruins of the ancient city of Baldia, one troublesome little girl had finally arrived at noon the next day, after receiving the right directions from the old geezer in the little castle. She stood before the ancient ruins said to conceal the legendary Holy Sword, Langrisser.
Though they were called ruins, the enormous castle didn't look all that dilapidated. Apart from the two bridges built over the lake, which had been destroyed an unknown number of years ago, the buildings as a whole still looked relatively intact. As for why nobody had claimed the place, that was anyone's guess.
"Look!"
"We're here! This is the place!"
"We finally made it!"
Gurnier jumped down from the dragon's back. He ignored Matthew, who had jumped down too and caught Aimee, then ended up holding her in his arms. Instead, he walked forward on his own and pointed at the enormous fortress ahead, which had withstood centuries of wind and rain without collapsing.
Those two or three days of flying had really put him through the wringer. He'd made up his mind: he would never again envy or aspire to be one of those boring dragon knights!
"This really wasn't easy..."
Looking at the familiar castle in front of him, Gurnier sighed again.
Sure, they had that enormous dragon mount as their mode of transportation, but by Gurnier's reckoning, they hadn't gotten here any faster than if they'd traveled on foot. And the reason for that, of course, was a certain troublesome little girl flying around at random and pointing them in the wrong direction.
"That's Baldia?"
"But..."
"Why does it look so deserted?"
At that moment, Sonya, who was also rather curious and eager to see the Holy Sword, walked over to Gurnier. Frowning at the ancient ruins of Baldia,
