Nobody knew exactly what had happened. All they knew was that some kind of brute force had ripped away most of the Rockpeak Valley mountain range and lifted the whole thing up, like a giant island, into the sky. It only stopped wobbling once it had risen to the same height as the clouds.
"Oh, Goddess of Light..."
"What..."
"What on earth is going on? Why has the ground suddenly started floating?"
After being carried high into the sky along with the mountains and spending a good while terrified, Ameda saw that the "ground" had stopped shaking and everything had settled down. She wrapped her arms around Matthew's waist, buried her face in his chest, and cried out in a trembling voice that sounded almost like sobbing.
"..."
But how was Matthew supposed to know why?
His mind was just as full of questions and shock. He was also worried about the unknown danger that lay ahead. All he could do was keep patting Ameda's back to comfort her, then turn his equally bewildered gaze toward his other two companions.
"I don't know!"
"Don't ask me!"
Gurnier turned his head away, not wanting to deal with those two who were clinging desperately to each other and looking painfully awkward.
"Ah!"
"That's..."
Sonya didn't answer Matthew's question either. She looked toward the mine entrance in confusion, because she seemed to hear light footsteps coming from inside.
"Ahaha!"

Annie had only just hopped out of the dark cave entrance, but before the four outside could ask anything, she eagerly started bragging and asking questions.
"Huh?"
"You mean this floating mountain range..."
"You did that just now?"
"How is that possible?!"
