While a troublesome little girl was doing some shameless things with her new doll in the underground world where the Eternal City of Nokstella lay, a certain Rot-afflicted girl whom she had happened upon and helped a little was also embarking on the path to redemption.
That's right!
That "Rot-afflicted girl" was none other than Millicent, the "Rot-afflicted girl" whom Annie had encountered and treated in that shabby church in Caelid after leaving the Eternal City of Nokron!
Only now, Millicent was no longer a "Rot-afflicted girl." She had a brand-new and very different title.
And it all began after a certain troublesome little girl healed her and gave her a Sacred Seal.
Over a month earlier...
After meeting Annie Hastur, the legendary ruler of Stormveil Castle, at the Church of the Plague beside the Swamp of Aeonia in central Caelid, Millicent had received the other girl's gift of Holy Light and been completely cured. Ever since then, she had faintly heard a mysterious presence deep within her heart, constantly calling to her and urging her to set out for some distant place as soon as possible.
In the end, Millicent chose to follow the guidance of that wondrous voice and resolutely began her own long journey.
Then, on the day after meeting the little girl, the one-armed Millicent set out.
She didn't go to say goodbye to her adoptive father, Gowry, nor did she tell him that she had been cured of the Rot and received Holy Light. She simply dragged her broken body along, her heart filled with reverence as though on a pilgrimage, and set out on the path she believed was right, the mark of Holy Light in hand.
