For the next little while, Mo Caihuan found herself somewhat surprised: her usually punctual master, Annie, who always came home for dinner, had vanished for several days in a row for the first time ever. After several days of anxious unease, Annie finally returned just before nightfall. She seemed to be holding some kind of fish, though Mo Caihuan had no idea what it was. As soon as Annie got home, she tossed it straight into the large wooden tub in the kitchen.

"Master, what is that?"
Her master had been gone for several days and had even brought something back with her for the first time. Curiosity got the better of Mo Caihuan, and she immediately hurried over to the tub to examine it closely.
"Ah!"
"A red carp?"
"But!"
"What kind is it? It's so pretty!"
Mo Caihuan quickly noticed that, apart from being beautiful and brightly colored, the little creature looked a bit strange. It didn't quite resemble the carps she usually saw, so, having never seen one like it before, she hurriedly asked Annie about it.
"It's not an ordinary carp!"
