Over the next few days, all sorts of things happened aboard the Orville. Nothing major, of course—just a bunch of petty, troublesome nonsense.
For example:
Auntie Kelly, the flighty, two-timing first officer who was always getting into trouble, had "once again" broken up with one of her new boyfriends. Meanwhile, the son(?) of Lieutenant Bortus was growing ridiculously fast; in less than half a year, he was nearly taller than Annie, and they were making arrangements for him to start school. And then there was the time someone accidentally let a virus into the ship's systems while downloading some kind of romantic environment simulation program, which made Captain Ed fly into a rage, and so on.
After that, the Orville needed an upgrade, so they brought aboard some engineer who was supposedly the smartest person on all of Moclus, causing quite a stir aboard the ship.
He was a Moclan named something like Loka. Annie had seen him a few times, but didn't know him very well.
That was because, to Annie, who was a little face-blind, he looked pretty much identical to the other two adult Moclans aboard the ship. They were all ugly, after all.
Of course, that wasn't important. What was important—and what a coincidence—was that he seemed to be the former boyfriend of that big, burly Lieutenant Bortus.
As for why a male like Bortus would have a boyfriend, that sort of confusing thing was beyond Annie's ability to understand, and she didn't want to figure it out, either!
And then...
After he arrived, all sorts of chaos naturally followed. Annie didn't bother asking what exactly happened, since most of her time was spent sleeping, eating, playing, and causing trouble. She wasn't very interested in other people's gossip, especially grown-up gossip.
All she knew was that
