Thousands of years ago, before the reign of the giants and the Crown Wars of the elves, the Forgotten Realms of Faerûn were still in the age of dragonkind.
It was a dark and suffocating age!
Dragons, even the ordinary kind, rampaged across Faerûn, laying waste to the land and lording over it.
With their innate advantages in magic and size, they ruled the land and all the lesser races as they pleased, keeping other races as livestock and feeding on their flesh. They naturally sat at the very top of the food chain and never treated the other races as people.
After all, back then, the dragons of Faerûn had enormous advantages in every respect, along with a vast population, as well as countless half-blood slaves and servants. The other "lesser" humanoid races could never hope to match or resist them.
Over time, the dragons' longstanding practice of enslaving and preying on other races, keeping all non-dragon populations as "food," naturally provoked intense resentment among the elves of the time!
And so!
At a certain point, the elves began searching for a way to escape the dragons' oppression.
In secret, they carried out years of costly research in northern Faerûn, in the frigid lands to the north where dragons almost never ventured. Vast numbers of high-level wizards and resources were sent north in an endless stream.
But at first, the research did not go smoothly. There were even several heated disputes over the cost and risks, and the project came close to being suspended more than once.
But fortunately, in the end, the elves succeeded!
They created a wondrous magic called the "Dracorage Mythals." It was a permanent masterpiece of magic, developed together by the high-level wizards of the ancient elves and woven into the Ley Line as one
