On the morning of the third day after receiving the intelligence, the southern district of Neverwinter, divided by the Neverwinter River, was completely surrounded by the undead army led by the Red Dragon. This included several docks, the restored district, and the area that had collapsed into what was called the "Rift," later sealed and currently undergoing restoration.
Looking out from the recently restored, towering walls of Neverwinter, one could see the once lush southern lands covered densely with those dark, terrifying undead troops. They knew neither fatigue nor fear, needed no supplies, and seemed to stretch endlessly across the land.
That was the true "shadow of death"!
Although they had arrived a day or two late, they had come in the end, casting a shadow over the hearts of every defender. The Neverwinter guards standing ready on the walls, along with the hastily recruited militia, adventurers, caravan guards, and other Champions who had volunteered to help defend the city, all felt a heavy weight in their hearts.
