For the Sake of Preventing the Destruction of the World

It really had happened just as that Miss Misty had said. That evening, only half a day after Annie had caught the Dragonite she'd nicknamed "Little Yellow," it woke up. Then it actually broke free of the shattered Poké Ball and, as soon as it got out, tried to escape!

Of course, Annie wasn't about to let that happen!

And Tibbers certainly wasn't going to stand by and do nothing!

So before the Dragonite could flee the scene at its supposedly incredible speed—fast enough to fly around the planet in just a dozen or so hours—Annie gave her bear a look. Tibbers charged forward and dealt with it in a couple of swipes, easily knocking it down and immediately taking away its ability to fly or run. But unlike last time, it didn't pass out.

"Hey!"

"Little Yellow, are you really not willing to surrender?"

Only after Tibbers stopped did Annie walk over and begin cheerfully trying to talk it into surrendering.

After all, Miss Misty had said Dragonite were almost as intelligent as humans. Well, humans in this world, anyway... So Annie wanted to see if she could tame it as a Pokémon Trainer, without using magic.

"Just so you know!"

"If you come play with me, there'll be lots and lots of benefits for you!"

That was right. There would definitely be benefits.

Annie just hadn't decided exactly what those benefits would be yet. She also hadn't decided when she'd follow through on them. In any case, she had the final say, so she could promise whatever she wanted.

"??"

But when it heard Annie, the Dragonite, which Tibbers had beaten half to death and left pitifully sprawled on the ground, looked around in confusion.

"Don't look around!"

"I mean you, Little Yellow!"
