Laki's worries were unnecessary. Because of Claire's bond, the greatsword Elaina hadn't actually been killed by Claire. And when they kept saying she had to "die," they naturally meant something else.
What they meant was that, since the two of them had started to harbor suspicions about the Organization, they wouldn't let Elaina "come back to life" and return to it. Nor did they want the Organization to learn that Elaina's yoki had been suppressed.
So!
That night, after making sure no one from the Organization was watching them, Claire followed a certain procedure. She gathered the bloodstained clothes and pieces of armor that had been torn apart when Elaina awakened, then made a grave beside the ruins at the summit of Mount Xilei. She planted Elaina's greatsword at the head of the grave, as if Elaina really had died at Claire's hands.
But then, to keep the Organization from coming to collect Elaina's body later, Claire thoughtfully dug up the grave under cover of night. She scattered the clothes and armor fragments all over the place, and even faked plenty of Space Wolves paw prints and bite marks.
That way, it would look as if a beast had dug up the grave and eaten the corpse.
When the Organization sent an agent to investigate and confirm things a day or two later, they would probably reach the same conclusion. They would surely believe Elaina was really dead, then simply take back her greatsword. At most, anyway.
And so!
The greatsword Elaina died—or at least, she was dead in name. She had died at the hands of the greatsword Claire and been buried atop the highest peak of Mount Xilei.
And with that, the matter caused by the "black letter" naturally came to an end.
But...
Quite unexpectedly, something happened
