It was late at night.
Beneath the moonlight, the city of Guixu looked just as it had over the past few days. Apart from the fires, the smoke, the occasional spine-chilling screams, and the endless darkness, it had none of the brightness and splendor, the traffic streaming like rainbows, or the dazzling lights that had once defined this interstellar metropolis.
Now, it sat beneath the moon in cold, hopeless silence.
The streets were littered with bones, each one bearing silent witness to the horror of the slaughter.
The shopping malls were strewn with corpses. Headless bodies and rotting remains lay scattered haphazardly inside and outside the long-deserted shops, each one silently accusing the apocalypse of its cruelty, bloodshed, and mercilessness.
And yet, beneath the night sky, the brutal Warp Daemons still ran rampant through the city.
They were tall, with hideous faces and eyes that glowed and flickered in the darkness like green flames. They prowled through the night, letting out fearsome roars now and then. Like savage wolves from hell, their cries shook every inch of the city and made every surviving person who heard them feel every living cell in their body tremble.
The rows of streetlights had long since gone dark. Some, half broken and swaying in the wind, let out a sharp, creaking squeal, lending the city an eerie, desolate air.
The city now resembled a vast graveyard, silent and cold.
There was nothing but the wind and the Daemons' roars echoing through the streets, filling the air with an indescribable sense of suffocation and despair... Every survivor was doing their best to stay alive, to cling to life. But faced with such hopelessness, even hope seemed to be slowly turning into despair.
After all, how could people who couldn't even sleep peacefully dare to hope
