In a certain area on the western outskirts of Guixu City, near the boundary of the Blood Skull Cult's territory, the streets—like everywhere else—had long since become apocalyptic ruins. They were lined with dilapidated buildings, wrecked vehicles, ruined municipal facilities, and foul-smelling corpses. For some reason, though, today they seemed unusually lively.

Of course, that was only compared with how things had been over the past few days or month. It certainly wasn't lively compared with the time before the apocalyptic Cataclysm, three months ago.

A few days ago, whether day or night, places like this that weren't demon settlements were usually silent. Other than the occasional roar of a demon and the screams of human survivors from time to time, there was absolutely no other sound.

Even the howling wind, the swarms of flies, and the faint squeaking of rats scurrying, gnawing, or fighting were so quiet they could practically be ignored.

But today, for some unknown reason, the streets rang with the thunderous footsteps of vast hordes of Warp Daemons running, shoving, and leaping, like an army of thousands. Roars of every pitch and volume rose and fell, demon leaders shouted angrily, and hysterical scolding mingled with the intermittent Bang! Bang! of gunfire and the Boom of exploding bombs.

That unusual commotion naturally stirred hope in the hearts of the few survivors still eking out a miserable existence in the buildings around them. They carefully crept out of their hiding places and peered through one window after another.

They soon discovered, to their immense disappointment, that all they could see were hordes upon hordes of running demons. Thousands, tens of thousands, perhaps even more, spread across nearly the entire neighborhood and the streets beyond, roaring madly as they thundered past. All they could hear, besides that, were
