Annie had no idea what Darius and the other officers had discussed with the leader of the Canopy Star Psyker unit—that auntie whose codename was something like "Willow Fluff." And, of course, she had absolutely no desire to find out!
Anyway, all she saw was that the other woman spent most of the night talking with Darius and the others. It wasn't until the second half of the night, when Annie was getting ready for bed and about to draw the curtains, that she saw the two sides emerge from the base's Command Center, chatting amiably. After exchanging a few more words, the two women hurried aboard a cloaked Medivac that had been waiting for them for some time. Escorted by two equally cloaked Banshees, it took off and headed east, vanishing from sight in the blink of an eye.
As for all that, Annie hadn't felt like asking about it at the time. She'd merely glanced over, waved a hand to make the curtains close automatically, and gone to sleep.
