When that strange red mist imbued with the properties of Warp Chaos energy gradually dissipated, and the orders of Darius, the base's supreme commander, had reached every officer on the front lines, the grand assault on Guixu City began on schedule the very next day amid the soldiers' charges and shouts. Though they were puzzled, they were also incomparably excited.
The Warp Daemons and Chaos monsters did indeed outnumber the human soldiers by at least dozens to one. Unfortunately for them, they were too inflexible and still refused to use ranged weapons. There were also far too few Psykers among them, and all their movements and deployments were completely exposed to the base's satellites, radar, and various detection systems. Thus, despite their overwhelming numerical advantage, they ultimately failed to bring much of it to bear.
Not only did they fail to display the formidable combat power they should have possessed, but under the base's fierce artillery bombardment, they were wiped out in organized groups and units, one after another, amid the flattened ruins, buildings blasted to pieces, and streets.
Because the moment they showed themselves, they would be subjected to fierce bombardment from the skies, long-range artillery, missiles, and even warships, they spent three whole days unable to organize any meaningful offensive. The unstoppable human soldiers instead drove straight in and basically captured the northern, southern, and eastern districts.
By the afternoon of the third day, thanks to the efforts of the commanders at every level in the mine base's Command Center and on the front lines, the human forces of the mine base had managed to occupy all of Guixu City outside the downtown area ahead of schedule and within the allotted time.
