It was late at night, and the newly built streets of Guixu City were mostly deserted. Only a few construction vehicles, medium and small transport ships, and security patrol vehicles carrying marines occasionally roared past, keeping busy.

Most of the survivors who had made it through and become new citizens of Guixu City had found new jobs, and their workdays were tightly scheduled. On top of that, Warp Daemons or Chaos monsters might lurk nearby or infiltrate the city after dark. So even though there was no curfew, people avoided going out at night unless they had to, lest they attract trouble or put themselves in danger.

Still, that wasn't always the case!

In certain lively Commercial Districts with tight security and relatively good public order, people who had to work at night or attend social functions still went out, providing a meager hint of life to Guixu City as it rebuilt after the disaster.

After all, Guixu City was close to the mining base and was the first city to be reclaimed, making it part of the rear. As a result, it had recovered a little more of its former character than other cities, even if its prosperity was perhaps less than one ten-thousandth of what it had been before the Cataclysm.

But whatever the case, thanks to the efforts of the mining base and all the survivors, the city was coming back to life. It was already nothing like the ruined, hellish place it had been a few months ago.
