Before noon, General Manager Zhao of Express Delivery and several company directors finally finished questioning Zhang Chulan, Zhang Lingyu, and Feng Baobao about their trip to Nashen Island.
During the questioning, Zhang Chulan and the others told General Manager Zhao and the directors everything they knew. Most of their account matched what Zhang Chulan had reported to General Manager Huang at the time, and they even clarified many details they hadn't explained clearly before.
They told one small lie, though: about the nuclear weapon, the Deuterium-8 explosive device.
When asked about the Deuterium-8 device, no matter how the directors tried to coax information out of them, the three played dumb and insisted they knew nothing. They either said they didn't know or claimed they hadn't seen it, leaving the directors rather dissatisfied.
Fortunately, General Manager Zhao and the directors were reasonable enough, and in the end they didn't give the three of them too much trouble.
They clearly knew Zhang Chulan and the others couldn't possibly have taken such an advanced miniature fusion nuclear weapon. The Nashen Queen probably wouldn't have let them get near it, either. The fact that they had managed to notice something was wrong and report it to General Manager Huang in time had already been an enormous stroke of luck!

When they realized that pressing the matter further would probably get them nowhere and would only waste time, they hurriedly wrapped up, filed the paperwork, and let the three go before the lunch break. Then they headed to a fancy restaurant with Xu Si, who was eagerly fawning over them.
