After investigating the matter, Loken, captain of the Tenth Company, immediately reported the situation on abandoned deck FC-N-01 to Horus, including the discovery of Chaos Daemons and the spread and corruption caused by Warp energy. He explained that the unrest on the abandoned lower deck wasn't caused by the rebels, but by the Warp Daemons that had appeared there, and asked Horus on the spot to let him handle the matter.
After all, Loken and his Tenth Company had extensive experience fighting daemons. They could even be said to be entirely unafraid of the corruption and taint of those Chaos monsters. So he guaranteed that he could purge the threats entrenched in the depths of the Vengeful Spirit in the shortest possible time and with the greatest efficiency.

To everyone's surprise, after reading Loken's report, Horus rejected his request and instead handed the task to Abaddon of the First Company.
Abaddon, naturally, immediately sent his Astartes from the First Company to take over the various passageways guarded by Imperial Army soldiers. Then he began sending elite forces into the abandoned deck in waves—Reaver squads and the like—methodically clearing out the Daemons entrenched below.
Seeing Abaddon's men quickly take control of the situation and then seemingly use the Daemons as training targets, Loken couldn't help but wonder why they were dragging things out instead of sweeping the area clean as quickly as possible with overwhelming force. Still, there was nothing particularly wrong with their approach, so he could only suppress his doubts.
There really had been a lot of strange things happening aboard the ship lately, and Loken had plenty to deal with. He couldn't fixate solely on the matter of someone deliberately letting the Daemons on the lower deck run rampant and holding back the effort
