Ali didn't have to think hard to realize that her cheap teacher was probably in grave danger. Either the Wolf King, Leman Russ, had captured him and was taking him to Terra, or he had already died in the battle between the two sides on Prospero.
From what she knew of her teacher, that immensely proud Primarch, he would never accept the humiliation of being captured. It was far more likely that the latter had happened.
So, for several days, Ali couldn't help feeling dejected. She even stopped going to the Tenth Company's armory when the techmarines asked her to test some equipment, and spent all her time languishing in her room.
But whatever happened, Ali knew she couldn't help him at all. So she soon recovered and rallied, deciding that she couldn't let her teacher's guidance and expectations go to waste. She had to find a way—and do it quickly—to escape the Vengeful Spirit, the flagship of the Sixty-Third Expedition Fleet!
