When Dr. Ding Yi and more than twenty of Earth's most brilliant human scientists stepped through the light gate, something astonishing happened:

They all realized that they had left the meeting room in the garden pavilion in the blink of an eye. In its place, they found themselves standing in the middle of an enormous plaza on a planet beneath a blue sky dotted with white clouds.

And at a glance, Dr. Ding Yi and the others were horrified to realize that they absolutely weren't on Earth—or at least, not on their Earth!

Something about the sky was off. Not only did it feature enormous, bizarre, distorted images, but the sun also seemed to be rising in the west. Its path and position were both highly suspicious.

Of course, none of that was important!

What mattered was that the surrounding buildings and the busy traffic flying through the sky showed that they seemed to have crossed the boundaries of space and time in an instant, stepping into a futuristic interstellar metropolis with incredibly advanced technology.

It wasn't just a seeming. It was certain, definite, and beyond any doubt!

Everyone, including Dr. Ding Yi, could see that in front of the plaza stood a colossal building that reached into the clouds and looked as though it were made of glass. Beneath an equally enormous, dazzlingly colorful dome that resembled glass, natural light and artificial illumination blended together perfectly, brightening the vast palace plaza and making it seem like a dreamlike world of vibrant colors.

A place like this simply didn't exist in the world they knew—in their own Earth!
