Potions Class was held in an underground classroom. It was remote and gloomy, much like Snape, the Potions professor himself.
Whether he had chosen it because he was a gloomy person, whether the gloomy surroundings had influenced him, or whether it was a bit of both remained unknown for now.
Perhaps Snape's classroom was simply so remote that it was hard to find, or perhaps they had spent too long in the Great Hall earlier?
Whatever the reason!
Much as they hated to, Harry and Ron had ended up being late!
And, just as they might have expected, Snape was standing there with his roll book, taking attendance. He clearly already knew they were both missing. The moment he saw them appear in the doorway, looking awkward and nervous, he grinned viciously.
"Ah-ha!"
"Yes..."
"Look who it is!"
"Harry Potter... the new student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry this year, the famous, celebrated figure!"
"And then there's this one..."
"Potter's little sidekick, the youngest son of the Weasley family..."
"Though that family certainly knows how to have children, it seems their sons get worse with each one?"
"I remember that very well..."
At that, some of the students in the classroom—especially Malfoy, the Slytherin student, and his friends, Crabbe and Goyle, who were always at odds with Harry and Ron and had even clashed with them several times—couldn't hold back any longer. They all snickered gleefully.
Luckily, before they could keep laughing or start making sarcastic remarks, Snape's cold, hollow black eyes glared them into lowering their heads and shutting their mouths. They didn't dare make a scene in class.
"Damn it!"
"Stop wasting my time!"
"Get in here, now!"
Fortunately, Snape didn't give them too hard a time after all. He simply barked at them to get
