They say Hogwarts Kitchen is directly beneath the Great Hall, and you can reach it by taking the stairs leading to the Hufflepuff basement?
Unfortunately, out of all the students at Hogwarts, only a very few knew exactly where it was. Some even claimed the Hogwarts Kitchen didn't exist at all.
But in fact, it did!
The entrance was hidden in a stone-walled underground corridor, brightly lit and decorated with a painting of a bowl of fruit. If you gently tickled the pear in the painting, it would giggle and turn into a green doorknob, revealing the entrance to the Hogwarts Kitchen.
That was the proper way to enter the Hogwarts Kitchen. If you didn't know the trick, you'd never get inside.
It was said that the Hogwarts Kitchen was a huge room with a very, very high ceiling, just as large as the Great Hall above!
Unlike the Great Hall, though, the stone walls around the kitchen were lined with stacks of gleaming copper pots, basins, and all kinds of utensils. At the far end stood a huge brick fireplace.
There were also four enormous tables in the kitchen, arranged exactly like the tables belonging to the four houses in the Great Hall above.
The reason for that was that all the meals at Hogwarts were prepared by House-elves in the kitchen. The four tables there were linked by some kind of magic to the corresponding tables in the Great Hall, so the dishes placed on them could be instantly transported to the hall, allowing students to enjoy their three meals a day on time.
It was said that at certain times, they even offered a special ordering service, letting teachers and students choose their food from a menu?
