At Hogwarts, students usually had to book the Quidditch Pitch several days in advance if they wanted to use it for practice. But Minerva McGonagall wasn't just anyone. She was the deputy headmistress, the head of Gryffindor, and one of the Four Founders of Hogwarts. So something like that was no trouble for her.
Sure, another house had already booked the pitch for this afternoon, but once Professor McGonagall stepped in, their booking was naturally pushed back. That was one of the perks of using your power for personal gain!
Professor McGonagall had already swallowed her pride and begged Dumbledore to make an exception and let a first-year join the team. Compared to that, she couldn't care less about taking over the Quidditch Pitch for an hour.
Soon!
Once they arrived at the school Quidditch Pitch and got a set of match Quaffles, Bludgers, and Golden Snitches, Oliver Wood started dividing everyone into teams.
He craftily put the well-coordinated twin Beaters, Fred and George, the newcomer Harry, another veteran substitute, Alicia Spinnet, and two other new players hoping to make the team on his side. Annie, meanwhile, was assigned to the other team, led by Angelina Johnson.
Next, he had both teams get acquainted. Once everyone had tied ribbons of different colors around their arms as markers, he announced that the match was about to begin.

Looking at the players on her side, then at the experienced players on the other team, who were rubbing their hands together, ready to teach her a lesson, Annie couldn't help sighing.
"Actually..."
"You don't need to go to all that trouble. I'm enough to take on all of you!"

"Besides, you don't stand a chance!"

She could tell that Captain Wood had rigged the teams, but Annie didn't mind.
