That evening, just as Harry had promised, he sneakily took out a tube of glittering, silvery-white magical blood in the Gryffindor common room, with Hermione and Ron as witnesses.

Hagrid had collected it from the poor dead unicorn. He had secretly set aside a test tube for Harry, who then gave it to Neville.

And so!

Once they had gathered all the ingredients, Neville found a classroom on the weekend and started preparing the potion. The Quidditch final wasn't until Sunday, and there were fewer people in the castle.

Of course, brewing a potion required all sorts of tools for processing ingredients and preparing the potion. Neville had none, and neither did Harry and the others, so they had no choice but to ask their Potions professor to lend them some.

Unfortunately, Professor Snape was naturally the least popular person in the whole school and wouldn't lend out his tools easily. And a group of first-years stood even less of a chance—even with good student Hermione asking on their behalf!

In the end, with no other option, Ron and Harry used Harry's Invisibility Cloak and made several trips to the Potions Classroom and Snape's office to "borrow" almost all the tools Neville needed.

So he needed more test tubes, cauldrons, and clean containers. There was no time to wash the ones they had used.
