The rat demon before them seemed to be the leader of the rat demon archers from earlier, as well as a little mage-type demon. He could use clones and fire a penetrating "laser" from the ghostfire he carried with him, making him far trickier to deal with than those rat archers.
Of course, whether he was tricky to deal with depended on who you asked. To Tibbers, Little Bear's "monkey," no matter how troublesome he was, one swing of the staff would settle things.
Just one swing. No more than that.
However, given his own troublesome little master's orders, all Tibbers did was use his staff to roll the rat demon over and pin him to the ground with the end of it pressed against his chest. He didn't hurry to kill him with a single blow.
Once Annie saw that Tibbers had subdued him, and that there was no need to worry about him suddenly leaping up and biting her—or about her pretending to be scared and burning him to a crisp in a flurry of fuss—she finally went over and asked with great interest:
