Annie had no choice but to retreat in the face of that force!
After all, it was an army assembled by the king of a demon kingdom. A thousand soldiers was a lot to deal with.
Besides, she and her "monkey" Tibbers were pretending to be a nameless little monkey from Flower-Fruit Mountain, out searching for the Great Sage's relics. If she charged straight in and went on a rampage, even after being riddled with arrows, some of the snoops lurking in the shadows would figure out something was wrong, no matter how stupid they were.
Then, whether those fellows came out to capture Tibbers for experiments or secretly made trouble for them, things would get a lot less fun.
So, to avoid being exposed and keep the game going, she had no choice but to steer clear of the rat demon's army for now. Then she could think of a reasonable way to satisfy both sides—or at least a relatively "reasonable" way to use something else to wipe out that rat demon king and his army.
As for what sort of plan she might come up with, that remained to be seen.
