Like everywhere else, all one could see was a sky full of yellow sand, withered weeds, an abandoned temple built into the sheer cliffs, gnarled, craggy trees, crooked, toppled, or even shattered Buddha statues, splintered temple gates, and cliff faces engraved with all sorts of scriptures.

At that moment, Annie stood at the end of the steps on the western side of Stone Pillow Flat at Soul-Seizing Cliff on Yellow Wind Ridge. Hands on her hips, she gazed up at the spectacular waterfall of sand and the cave behind it, looking thoughtful. Who knew what she was thinking?

As for the monkey Tibbers, naturally, he was squatting on a rock behind her, bored out of his mind.
His fluffy head was tilted slightly as he held a little twig and teased a tiny sand scorpion he had somehow lured out of a crack in the rock. He was having a grand time playing with the little thing as it waved its pincers and poisonous tail.
"Hey!"

This was a mountain path, and there was a sand waterfall blocking the steps at the end. Annie simply couldn't believe there was nothing hidden inside.

Tibbers just stood up and stomped the little scorpion that had dared to challenge him flat. Then he waved a hand carelessly, as if to say, do whatever you want. He didn't mind either way.
