╭( ) Smash It and Take a Look
Maybe it was winter, or maybe it was because the place sat at a high elevation. Either way, the mountains around Little Western Heaven were bitterly cold, and snowflakes drifted like fluff over the steep mountain paths.
On either side of the path, enormous Buddha statues were carved into the towering cliff faces.
Though most were covered in snow, their features, expressions, and poses were vivid and lifelike.
Annie, however, didn't mind at all!
She first pulled her fur cloak and fox-fur hat snug around herself so the wind wouldn't blow them off, then continued hopping along ahead through the thick snow.
Following behind her was, of course, a "monkey" much taller than she was—her Little Bear.
Oh, no—her English-speaking little monkey, Tibbers?
Unlike Annie, who was bundled up from head to toe, Tibbers was still wearing his ordinary fur outfit. Maybe he wasn't cold, or maybe his fur kept him warm. Either way, he carried his willow staff and ambled along at an unhurried pace. His deep-set eyes remained fixed on his troublesome little master up ahead, and at most, he occasionally let out an annoyed snort.
At last, when the girl and monkey reached a long, partially enclosed stone grotto, they immediately spotted the enormous group of statues carved into both sides of the cliffs.
"Wow!"

"Tibbers, come look!"

Annie hurried forward, then tipped her head back and gazed excitedly at the giant statues lining the cliffs on either side of the path.

They were only statues, after all. Tibbers didn't think they were anything special, so he continued strolling along behind her at the same leisurely pace.
"Huh?"

"That one over there looks like Kui Mulang..."
