Before the banquet in Lanxi Village began, Annie, Tibbers, and Zhu Bajie, disguised as a group of little demons delivering gifts, finally arrived just in time. At least they hadn't missed the hour—or, more importantly, the banquet.
The demon in charge of receiving and registering gifts in Lanxi Village didn't see through their disguises, either. He simply recorded the gifts they had brought from "Wushan" as usual, expressed his thanks, and then had a little demon show the three of them to their seats. The three pigs were placed at a table with a tiger, a bull demon, and a fox spirit.
And soon enough!
Annie didn't have to wait long. As the sky grew dark, red lanterns bathed the grand courtyard where the Lanxi Village wedding banquet was being held in a rosy glow, and little female demons began bringing out dishes on trays. At long last, Annie's favorite kind of occasion—the banquet—was officially underway.
Before long, the round tables were piled high with all sorts of delicacies from the mountains and the sea. Jars of wine stood in neat rows nearby, filling the air with their rich fragrance. The demons and monsters seemed to think nothing of it, so they didn't hold back, gathering around the tables to eat and drink to their hearts' content.
Gradually, the wedding banquet grew livelier. Laughter, drinking games, clinking cups, and boisterous shouts rose one after another.
"Come on, come on!"
"Old Bull, another round!"
At Annie's table, the pig demon she'd transformed into was happily holding a plate of the honeycomb-shaped dessert she liked and helping herself when a tiger demon with a face full of flesh suddenly stood up, raised his cup, and bellowed at another bull demon.
The bull
