After casually pressing the button for the sixth floor, Annie stood lazily inside the elevator.

She'd just woken up and hadn't bothered to fix her hair, so it was a bit of a mess. Sleep still lingered on her face. After standing there for a while, she couldn't help stretching, yawning, and rubbing her eyes.
The elevator descended floor by floor, accompanied by a low, steady hum.
Since this was the private elevator for the top-floor VIP suite, it could only be operated with a key card for the penthouse. Annie didn't have to worry about anyone stopping it along the way.
Just as she was wondering whether to head back to her room for another nap after eating or go out and have some fun, the elevator unexpectedly chimed after descending only a few floors. The destination number on the display changed from "6" to "35."

Hearing the chime and feeling the elevator stop before slowly accelerating upward, Annie frowned and looked up at the display.
"That's weird!"
"Doesn't this hotel only have thirty-three floors?"

"Where did the thirty-fifth floor come from? There isn't even a button for it. Is this thing going to heaven?"

Annie was certain her suite was on the top floor. There was even a staircase inside that led up to a viewing terrace with a little garden. So forget the thirty-fifth floor—there wasn't even a thirty-fourth!
"Some kind of technical glitch?"

Muttering, she pursed her lips. She was a little annoyed, but still stepped forward and pressed the cancel button, then pressed the button for the sixth floor again.

The elevator shuddered slightly. Its upward motion stopped, and it began slowly descending again.
"That should fix it, right?"
