As it turned out, Annie's earlier complaints hadn't been unreasonable at all!

They'd flown over the original thousand-kilometer journey in just a few hours, but after switching to walking, they'd spent half the day covering a mere hundred kilometers or so. By the time the sky was getting dark, they'd barely made it halfway!
And they definitely couldn't travel at night. Humans weren't nocturnal animals!
So before nightfall, they had no choice but to find a nearby patch of ruins. They found a place that looked like a fairly intact warehouse and ducked inside, planning to rest there for the night and continue on after sunrise.
At this pace, they probably wouldn't reach their destination—the outskirts of the ruins of the City of Tianfu—until at least the following evening.
And the earliest they could officially start the mission would probably be the morning of the third day.

So after eating their fill, she couldn't help sighing again.
Traveling and all that was just too boring. And traveling slowly, especially when nothing happened along the way, was even more boring!
If she'd known it would be like this, maybe she would've refused this dull mission from the start and stayed at that underground Iron Nest base, eating, drinking, having fun, and playing with Little Bear or something?
