A Bunch of Bandits!
So that certain people wouldn't grow dependent on her, Annie didn't use Teleport on the way back this time. Instead, she drove back to Dragonbone Village at full speed, bouncing along the whole way, and left the two poor souls going hungry for a full two days, with barely a meal between them.
Luckily, the armored vehicle still had a few supplies in it: some water and a few nasty compressed biscuits. Otherwise, who knew what kind of state Xia Dou and Mai Duo would have ended up in after all that?
Anyway!
When they reached their destination, the two of them were so hungry their stomachs were practically touching their backs. First, they offered Annie, who had managed to drive all the way back with her spirits still high, a "greeting" filled with admiration and resentment. Then they hurriedly took their spoils and headed back to the village.
However, Annie didn't tell them that the reason she'd been so energetic was that while they were fast asleep in the vehicle from hunger, she'd secretly snacked on plenty of delicacies from the Gourmet World whenever they weren't looking. She hadn't eaten any of those compressed bug biscuits at all!
And to keep the two from finding out, she'd chosen little morsels she could pop into her mouth whole, without spitting out pits or bones. She'd even quietly opened the window to air out the smell. She hadn't been hungry for a second!
But since it was all in the past, those little details didn't matter anymore.
Anyway, they were back in the village now, and the two had gone straight home to find their families and something to eat. They probably wouldn't dare casually beg Queen Annie to take them out scavenging again anytime soon.
