As expected, early the next morning, while Annie was still fast asleep, a noisy, bustling crowd of strange uncles had gathered in the courtyard outside her bamboo house!
Among them were none other than the strange uncles Shanda, Xutong, and Taciturn.
They were there, of course, under orders from White Moon Kui—Boss Bai—to use that magical "dog bowl" of a certain bear for special training. They'd also brought along a group of apprentice Awakeners, hoping to give the youngsters more hands-on experience.
But...
What Shanda, Xutong, Taciturn, and the others couldn't understand was why the giant bear BOSS kept slaughtering them in all sorts of ways. It ripped off their heads, stomped their bodies flat, tore them to pieces, snapped their necks, dug out their brains, and even crushed them into bloody pulp.

By the end of the morning, Shanda, Xutong, Taciturn, and the others had each died at least ten times on average. The BOSS bear had respawned well over a hundred times, yet it hadn't eaten a single person—not even taken one bite. The three of them couldn't make heads or tails of it.
"Damn, that's weird as hell!"
While the apprentice Awakeners took their turns challenging the bear, Shanda—broad-shouldered and built like a barrel—patted his sturdy belly and ambled over to Xutong and Taciturn. Looking puzzled and indignant, he asked:
"Boss Bai, Maiduo, Fangyuan, and the others got eaten alive yesterday. I heard they could barely walk afterward."
"So what gives?"
"Now that it's our turn, it won't eat
