The next day arrived quickly.

Although the morning light had pierced the thin mist, it had failed to dispel the tense atmosphere hanging over the city in Earl Granat's domain.

On top of a tall, somewhat secluded hill not far from the city, dense trees conveniently concealed the luxurious carriage, making it difficult for anyone in the city to spot it.

The papers glinted faintly in the morning sunlight. Even from this far away, Fern could make out clear portraits of herself, her teacher Frieren, and Annie. They were remarkably lifelike, obviously drawn by some mage who had seen them.

Perhaps by one of the people Annie had blown away last night?

Besides that, squads of fully armed soldiers had appeared on the streets, standing ready as they patrolled. Anyone who didn't know better might have thought the city was preparing for war!
