-(゜-゜) The Seven Sages of Destruction, But the Wrong Person Broke (1)
The night deepened. Beneath the gloomy sky, in a vast valley on the northern frontier, a massive army of headless knights lay in wait, darkening the ground.
Yes, a massive army!
Seen from above, the Death Guard stood motionless between the valley walls like a silent tide, lying in wait for who knew what.
Without exception, their armor and weapons all looked much the same. They had clearly once been knights or warriors in Earl Granat's domain, but now their heads had been cruelly cut off, leaving only magic-driven bodies and blackened necks. They all pointed their empty necks toward the murky sky, making for a truly chilling sight.
And the entire valley reeked of decay and despair, a horrifying stench that turned the stomach.
Of course, none of that mattered.
What mattered was that at the very front of the Death Guard stood the Greater Daemon known as "Aura the Guillotine." The female demon, clad in an ornate dark-red armored dress and radiating a cold, haughty air, fixed her sinister, triumphant eyes on the two figures who had just arrived nearby.
Those two figures were none other than Frieren, the elven mage who had reached her destination, and the little girl standing behind her: Annie Bonny. She looked clever and lively, sweet and adorable, and completely harmless, as she hugged a somewhat battered, rather fearsome-looking stuffed bear!
Perhaps old enemies really did see red when they met?
Aura merely glanced at Annie before fixing her gaze on Frieren, who was slowly descending. A cold, cruel smile spread across her face.
"Hmph!"
With that cold snort, she wasted no time. She raised her slender arm, clad in a silk glove, and gave a graceful but forceful wave.
"Go!"
