Through the floor-to-ceiling windows in the magic carriage's living room, it was easy to see how unusually gloomy the afternoon sky was, as if it were about to snow at any moment.
By now, the carriage was rolling smoothly along the road away from the fortress city of Folechi. The scenery outside had long since changed from the bustle of the city to the vast, lonely northern plains, and there were hardly any merchants or farmers working along the roadside.
That wasn't surprising!
After all, it was cold, and crops wouldn't grow in the fields. No farmer would be foolish enough to go digging around for food in the fields at a time like this. On top of that, trade between the northern and central kingdoms had been cut off, and demons occasionally ran amok, so people naturally tried to avoid unnecessary trips into the wilderness whenever possible.
Of course, none of that had anything to do with Annie and the others, nor did it affect them. Even if it started snowing heavily later, their magic carriage could still travel without a hitch!

After the carriage had sped onward for about half an hour, Annie finally rubbed her sleepy eyes and came wandering out of the bedroom in her slippers, looking dazed, with her teddy bear Tibbers in her arms.
