You'd better worry about yourself!
Not long after Laufen came out, Frieren's name was called, and she went inside.
Nobody knew what Frieren and that Serie had talked about in there. But whatever the case, Frieren stayed inside longer than anyone else!
The people before her, whether they passed or failed, had usually been sent slinking out after just a few words from Serie. Even Laufen, who'd been questioned, had only spent a few extra minutes inside.
But Frieren was different!
More than ten minutes passed after she went in, and she showed no sign of coming out. Nobody knew what she'd talked about with Serie, or what the two of them had done in there.
Fortunately, though, she did come out after half an hour.
"!!"
When Frieren emerged, Fern was naturally the first to rush over. She asked without thinking:
"Lady Frieren!"
"Did you pass?"
Yes, in Fern's mind, the fact that Frieren had been inside for so long—more than half an hour—could only mean she'd spent ages talking with Lady Serie.
Whether they'd been reminiscing or discussing something else, perhaps things hadn't gone the way Frieren had expected. Maybe Lady Serie had passed her after all?
Otherwise, why would they have talked for so long?
However...
Frieren merely glanced at Fern and shook her head.
"No."
"I failed. She rejected me."
"I told you, didn't I? She doesn't like me, and I don't like her either."
"I'll wait for you outside."
With that, Frieren ignored Fern's reaction and silently headed out of the Magic Association building.
"Lady Frieren..."
Fern hadn't expected Frieren to fail after all. She was so dazed that, for a moment, she didn't know what to say.
