Hearing Annie say that, the attendant stared at her innocent little face for several seconds, as if weighing whether her words were true.

After a moment, perhaps she decided Annie was telling the truth. Or perhaps she thought Annie's fine clothes meant she was not someone to mess with.

So the attendant suppressed her impatience and said coldly in a stiff tone:

"Fine!"

"Since this is your first offense, and you seem sincere about it,"

"put your food away at once, and I'll let you off without pursuing the matter or punishing you."

As she spoke, she pointed at the snack bag in Annie's hand.

Annie blinked. She didn't immediately do as she was told. Instead, she leaned out to look at the spacious, brightly lit enclosed cabin behind her, where quite a few passengers were seated, then continued in an innocent, understanding tone:

"Is it because we're in an open-air corridor, and you're worried something might fall and hit someone?"

"So we can only eat inside the cabin?"

She thought she'd found the crux of the matter. After all, falling objects from a great height were indeed dangerous. She knew and understood that rule.

Even if the snacks in her hand weren't heavy, and even if the wind would blow them away if they fell, making it absolutely impossible for them to hurt anyone.

"No!"

However, the attendant shook her head without hesitation and rejected the idea in no uncertain terms:

"Rules are rules!"

"On the celestial vessel, eating is forbidden everywhere, whether in the inner or outer cabins or in the open-air corridors!"

"You can't eat inside, either!"

This answer did surprise Annie.

"But why?"

(.)

She tilted her head slightly and continued to ask in her soft, sweet voice.
