The sun was warm and gentle, draping this magnificent immortal city's marketplace in a lazy golden veil. The towers and palaces bathed in the sunlight, their green tiles and colored glazed roofs reflecting all kinds of brilliant light. Tall towers soared straight into the clouds, while immortal cranes and other spiritual birds occasionally circled overhead. The scenery was as beautiful as ever.
The streets below were still broad and tidy, paved mostly with limestone slabs. Crowds of people bustled along, cultivators mingling with ordinary folk, some hurrying on their way, others strolling leisurely. It all had a charm of its own.
In the sky, floating islands of all sizes dotted the heavens like stars, scattered near and far. Pavilions and terraces, gardens and waterfalls, were faintly visible on them; some were even linked by rainbow bridges, forming a prosperous, three-dimensional celestial vista.
However, the floating islands at lower altitudes mostly belonged to wealthy households, minor officials, or certain government offices. The islands of high officials, noble clans, and even the Immortal Kings were clustered at heights approaching the Thirty-Third Outer Heaven, too far away to make out with the naked eye from the ground.
