The weather was clear that day, with clouds stretching as far as the eye could see.
High above the thousand-zhang sea of clouds surrounding the Divine Capital, a brand-new cloudship with sleek lines and a body of rosewood, glimmering with spiritual light, flew swiftly and steadily through the clouds. It followed one of the intercity high-altitude routes toward a destination outside the city.
The ship wasn't especially large, measuring about ten zhang long and three zhang wide, but it was cleverly designed, with smooth, flowing lines. It had an enclosed cabin to shield its passengers from the wind and rain, and its hull was carved with complex spiritual arrays. Almost no other cloudship on the route looked like it, so passing vessels—and cultivators riding electric scooters... no, flying swords and braving the elements—could tell at a glance that this was a brand-new model fresh from a workshop.
A faint blue flame streamed from the stern, propelling the cloudship at tremendous speed along its designated intercity route. It even kept overtaking other vessels, leaving many cloudships and sword-flying cultivators far behind.
Inside, the cabin wasn't particularly spacious, but it was comfortable and elegantly furnished.
Soft carpets covered the floor, and crystal wall lamps set into the walls could be adjusted for brightness. At the rear stood a cushioned daybed, and seats were fixed to the floor. Even a small table was secured in the middle, with several spirit fruits and cups of tea arranged on top.
But none of that mattered!
